I bought similar set in Dec 2008 and I get this error when installing Sims 3 – original disc. Since then I get this ERROR 003. Can I bring it to Qisahn to get it fixed ?

Help! Bought a modified Korean Wii console from you in Dec 2008. Today, when installing a new game (original) “The Last Airbender”, it hanged halfway and a message appeared saying ERROR 003 Unauthorised Device has been detected. What can I do now? My son is so upset as it’s his birthday party tmr and his friends are coming over.

Sadly, as current solutions require modified or illegal modifications to the Wii, help can only be rendered to a very small group of affected customers

28 Feb 2011 – Hacker Giantprune posts a video showing success with recovering all 003 error Wiis. Details of the solution was subsequently released in a few days. All Wiis with 003 error can now be recovered!

Aug 2010 – Hacker claims to have found a new method to inject IOS 70 into the system but it only works with Wiis with a trucha patched IOS36

Jun 2010 – Nintendo releases firmware version 4.3. IOS 70 is replaced by IOS 80. Symptoms and recovery methods are the same.

Mar 2010 – Hackers successfully inject IOS 70 into the Wii system through Mario Kart Channel installation. However, this requires the Wii to have Darkcorp preinstalled. Darkcorp is commonly used by hackers for piracy. Even though 003 Wiis can be recovered with this method, help is limited only to those with “soft modded” Wii.

Oct 2009 – Mod chips with autoboot function can be installed to allow Wii to continue playing games.

Oct 2009 – Hackers confirm the cause. A Wii firmware is made up of many “IOS”. Region changed Korean Wiis do not install IOS 70 automatically even though it is required for loading of Wii system menu. This results in the 003 error.

Sep 2009 – Users of region changed Korean Wii receive “Error:003 Unauthorized device has been detected” if they update their Wii to version 4.2. Wiis from other countries are not affected.

Sep 2009 – Nintendo releases firmware version 4.2.

Sep 2008 – Importers flood local markets with cheap region changed Korean Wiis. Price of Wii plummets.

Aug 2008 – The breakthrough coincides with a crash in Korean Won. Korean Wii suddenly becomes super cheap.

Aug 2008 – Hackers succeed in changing Wii’s default region.
